Not easy to express the meaning of 'Qing Ming' in English.
As far as I know, it is a day all the Chinese will memorize the 'departed' people. It's also the day to visit the grave sites of the family.
A poem for Qingming by Du Mu -- Tang Dynasty
A drizzling rain falls like tears on the Mourning Day;
The mourner's heart is breaking on his way.
Where can Winehouse be found to drown his sadness?
A cowherd points to Xing Hua village in the distance.
May the people who left us rest in peace.
And I will carry on, with the spirits they pass to us.
